Dan Horne – “Dontcha Know”
Packed day, but there’s room for one more before this weekend takes off. This one seems to have been a bit of an under the radar announcement, but Dan Horne (Circles Around The Sun, Grateful Shred), producer of a plethora of West Coast faves like Mapache, Allah-Las, Cass McCombs, Pacific Range and others has released details on his debut LP. Count The Clouds will round up a previously released Incredible String Band Cover “Hedgehog’s Song” and companion track “Hedgehog’s Dream,” the single “Ode To The Road,” and new single “Dontcha Know.” The latter moves in a bit of a new direction for Dan. Lost in a disorienting haze, the song is a bitter send off to a failed relationship. There’s a caustic feeling to the song that’s balanced by Horne’s psychedelic sway.
The record is rounded out with a typically stunning group of regulars in Horne’s circle — Ny Oh from Harry Styles’ band, Raze Regal (Once & Future Band), Adam MacDougall (Circles Around the Sun), Clay Finch (Mapache), and Frank LoCrasto (Kolombo). Count The Clouds arrives April 7th. The video above is a live take, recorded live at Liberty Hair Farm in Echo Park. Below is the studio take that will appear on the album.
