Cleaners From Venus tribute comp Tales of a Kitchen Porter
I’m always down for a celebration of the Cleaners From Venus, and it seems that Dandy Boy Agrees. The West Coast haven for indie pop has just announced a new tribute album, with fifteen interpretations of the band’s work. Contributors include Chime School, Nic Hessler, Whitney’s Playland, Flowertown, Yea-Ming, Smashing Times, Mister Baby, Julian Never, The Dates, Sob Stories, Smile Too Much, Owen Adair Kelley, Rhymies, Inflatable Men and Sleepworld all bringing home-recorded visions to life. The album kicks off with a new cover from Yea-Ming and The Gloomers, a new configuration from Yea-Ming Chen that brings together members of Chime School, The 1981, and The Goods. She gives the Cleaners a nice gloss and a girl-group swoon. There’s more to come as this one unfolds, but this first cut should keep you interested. The comp, Tales of a Kitchen Porter, is out September 27th from Dandy Boy Records.
