After a hiatus from music to take care of family, Irish songwriter Cian Nugent returns this week with news of his first album in seven years. The first single captures a rippled looseness that feels a bit more unbuttoned than the last time Nugent was on the speakers. Slowly simmering feedback gnaws at the track until Nugent’s solos tumble through on the song’s second half, a damn-break that feels well deserved. “High Up Airplane” is the first single from She Brings Me Back To The Land Of The Living, the title borrowed from a phrase often spoken by Cian’s mother in the days following a stroke. The title feels apt as the song throbs like a beacon, pulling the listener through the darkness. The new album is out May 5th from No Quarter.
