Chime School – “Taking Time To Tell You”

Avatar

Constantly on a hit streak, Slumberland offers up the first single from San Francisco’s Chime School. The band is the solo project of Andy Pastalaniec (drummer for Pink Films, Cruel Summer, and Seablite) who comes out from behind the kit to record an indie pop opus of his own. He shifts his sound from some of the hazier environs of his peers to a clean jangled palette of the early Creation / Sarah nature, feeding on the breezy strums of The Razorcuts, Biff Bang Pow and Another Sunny Day while finding an easy alliance with newcomers like Jeanines, The Umbrellas, or R.E. Seraphin. The guitars ring out crisp as a spring day while Pastalaniec’s vocals add just the right touch of bittersweet bliss. Rounded out with a bubble wrap snap of drums and heavenly harmonies, this one finds a good home on your indie pop shelf. The eponymous new album is out November 3rd from Slumberland.
