Centre El Muusa – “Pony Road”

The first single from the sophomore release by Estonian progressive psych quartet Centre El Muusa finds the band packing away their heady growl and motorik mayhem for a dose of dirt-dusted cosmic twang. Skirting the lines between Cosmic Americana and jazz-tipped Space Rock territory, the first cut from the upcoming Purple Stones feels like the extended stage-side freakout before the band would lay back into a well known groove. Except in this case there’s no safe harbor to return to. “Pony Road” lights the leather on fire and revels in the reek of the road. Hoping the rest of the album embraces the curdled twang and sunstroke hallucinations on display here. Purples Stones is out April 22nd from Sulatron Records.
