Broadcast – Warp Reissues

Avatar

The lost of Broadcast is felt daily around here, a tragedy that reverberates each year marked with Trish’s passing. Some good news arrives today, though as Warp Records announces a trio of archival releases making their way to vinyl this year. The label has pressed fan favorites Mother Is The Milky Way, Microtonics (vols 1&2), and the BBC Maida Vale Sessions to LP this year with a March 18th release for all three. The first was a tour-only CD, released in 2009 in an edition of 750 copies. Microtonics, also a tour release, was sold as a two-part 3” CD series sold on their 2000 and 2005 tours respectively. These were a bit easier to come by as they were later sold through the Warp mailorder. The last rounds up Four BBC sessions recorded at the Maida Vale studios between October 1996 and August 2003. None have appeared previously on LP, though all are getting simultaneous digital and CD issues as well. Some essential pieces of the band’s legacy and a good reason to dive back into your Broadcast well if its been a while. Check out “Sixty Forty” from the Maida Vale Sessions, recorded live for John Peel on 19 August 2003.
