Royal Oakie Records offers up another nice bout of sunset-diped alt-country. This time members of Slow Season take a break from the psych whirlpool for a bit of open valley dust. Daniel Rice and bandmate Hayden Doyel, accompanied by Daniel’s wife ReNelle seek to capture the salt n’ sand yearn of California country, pairing layered harmonies with a lovely twang and the gorgeous glow of pedal steel. The new band, dubbed BRIM, seeks to add to the current crop of new country crooners, bringing a bit of the valley-bred country from the coast to the masses. The band’s debut album, California Gold is out May 20th.
