Blurry The Explorer – “Angel Ecology”
RSTB favorites Island House have been holding down the line among the tape set for a couple of years now, capturing a wide range of styles, while feeling delightfully cohesive in vision. The label launches into 2023 with their first LP offering, a record that finds collaborators of Caetano Veloso, Rubblebucket, Joan As Police Woman and Brian Eno coming together for a record that’s full of delicate wonder and careful craftsmanship. The first single is the lightly lapping pop of “Angel Ecology,” a song that carries with it a dawn light glow that lingers long after the last notes have faded. The acoustic strums nod with a lightly woven thread, evoking the kind of stillness that surrounded works by Kings of Convenience, José González, or Efterklang. Strings courtesy of Aliya Ultan open the song up as it progresses, letting its quiet contemplation bloom into something beautiful. The new record, Angel Ecology, is out May 12th.
