Blue Zero – “Broken By A Glance”

Another excellent entry into the new wave of Shoegaze emanating out of the West Coast arrives this week. Blue Zero brings together a trio of familiar names — Chris Natividad (Marbled Eye, Public Interest, Aluminum), Lauren Melton (SUCKER) and Rick Altieri (Blue Ocean) — coalescing around Natividad’s glowering songwriting. The band reaches into the reverberated past for a new single that slicked with rain, rutted by a wave of fuzz, and lost somewhere in the numb plumes of narcotic bliss. The record hides more than a few hooks under its obfuscated haze, scraping a bit of sonic salvation off of the sides of nostalgia. The new record, Colder Shade Blue, is out October 11th from Lower Grand Tapes.
