Billy Tibbals – “Burn Out”

Another Billy Tibbals single tumbles out of the tank, and like every one prior, this hits like a lost power pop classic. Following up on his undersung, and excellent, EP from last year, Tibbals returns with “Burn Out.” The cut straddles the lines between post-glam decadence and power pop pout. Still hung just ever so slightly on the scarf tails of Sparks and Be Bop Deluxe, but feeling like its got its eyes on The Quick and Pezband as well, the song bounds out of the speakers. There are plenty of power pop detractors, but there’s something so instantly endearing about Tibbals’ songs that its like crate digging gold every time a new song surfaces. This is knocking around digitally, and it looks to be the lead off on a new EP called Nightlife Storiess, out April 26th from Silver Arrow.
