Babe Lewis – “Suncaster”

Catching up on this one from the weekend. Virgina songwriter Joseph Harder slips into the dreampop foam as Babe Lewis. The first single from his new album for WarHen record finds Harder weaving through the glaze, poking and prodding at the MBV and Chapterhouse school of sun-saturated pop that feels like it’s far too big for the speakers to contain. Towering fuzz guitars bury the vocals, but there’s a kernel of pop that remains, smudged and swirling beneath the ten tons of crunch. The new album, Sunspot, is out May 9th from WarHen.
