Wand – “Blue Cloud (live)”

Drag City sends out another dip into the upcoming live album from Wand. The band has long used the live setting to unwind their typically meticulous psych but this marks the first proper document. The first peek into the album jumped into the melt with a 20+ minute version of “White Cat,” and they give “Blue Cloud” from their 2017 album Plum a similarly extended vision. The original makes use of space and dynamics already, but they extend the circular swirl here before lighting the fuse on the explosive last third. The band is out on a US jaunt to support the record, so if the takes here draw you in, it may be time to hit up one of the upcoming shows. Spiders in the Rain is out October 28th.
