Vanishing Twin – “Phase One Million”

This new Vanishing Twin album is shaping up into a right nice trip. The second single from the upcoming Ookii Gekkou lands today with a perfect stop-motion video to match. With a more propulsive palette, “Phase One Million” slices a layer off of Afropop, funk, and another dose of the Broadcast by way of Silver Apples psychedelia that’s become their hallmark. A hip-hugging beat moves the song, with fuzz guitars tangling with that Afrofunk nod before incandescent organ lines come to blur the whole batch into something new. It pairs well with their first offering, acting as a counterpoint to the more psychedelic initial single. The video by Noriko Okaku captures the cut n’ paste feeling of ‘60s zines come to life and it fits quite well, brining the song’s incalculable cool to motion. The new album is out October 15th from Fire Records.
