Ty Segall – “Hello, Hi”

Seems like just a couple of months ago that Ty dropped Harmonizer, his synth-heavy bruiser from last year, but he’s back already with a new album and a return to a more vamped guitar crunch. The first single, the title track to Hello, Hi, is steeped in a classic Segall gloss of fuzz-riffed rave-up and falsetto-smooth verses. The leathered lacquer of Harmonizer is peeled back a bit in favor of mirrored platform pound and pelvic reverberations. It’s a cut that keeps itself locked on the speakers pretty easily, feeling like a song that has already permeated Ty’s stable of classics. The new album, is out July 22nd from Drag City.
