SUSS – “Heat Haze”

An unexpected new EP rises today from RSTB faves SUSS. Leading the wave of ambient country that’s been rising up from the desert sands, the band’s first offering from the EP, Heat Haze is a kind of continuation of the twilight wanderings that they’d begun on Night Suite. Now that the sun has risen and the heat ripple settles down over the listener, obscuring their view, melting the mind, the band’s provided a soundtrack to the bleary-eyed feelings of sunstroke and psychedelics. The EP, and in particular the title track, mark some of the last recordings with the band’s sadly departed member Gary Leib, who passed away shortly before Night Suite was released last year. The new EP is out now from the band.
