RVG – “Squid”

Avatar

Following the snarl of first single “Nothing Ever Changes,” Melbourne’s RVG don’t look to be lightening the mood any as they slice into “Squid.” The tale of body horror is bathed in darkness, anchored to the band’s moody metronome and ravaged by the impassioned aura of front woman Romy Vagar. The band dredges up the darkest strains of ‘80s post-punk, feeling like the would have easily shared the left of the dial with Siousxie, The Cure, and The Monochrome Set if this had been dropped on the world forty years prior. The new record, Brain Worms, is out June 2nd from Fire Records.
