Pelt – Reticence / Resistance for Three Lobed

Avatar

More great news from the 20th anniversary series on Three Lobed lands this week. After outstanding offerings from Six Organs of Admittance, Daniel Bachman, Sunburned Hand of the Man and Gunn-Truscinski Duo, the label has announced a new album from exploratory folk legends Pelt. The band’s last work was in 2012 on MIE and they’ve been rather quiet since, but they’ve now letting out an excellent live recording into the winds. The set was recorded in 2017 at London’s Café Oto over two nights in February. With the band’s classic (minus, of course Jack Rose) lineup of Best/Gangloff/Bowles/Dimmick, they present two sides of immersive psychedelic folk — a gnawing at the soul that could only have come from the furnace of Pelt. The record is out October 29th, and while the full recording is really two side-long journeys, you can hear some snips of the set below. If you’ve been watching this run from Three Lobed, then it should already be apparent that this should be topping your list of necessities.
