Pearl Charles – “Figure Skater”

Before setting out on a UK tour, Pearl Charles has released a new single, “Figure Skater.” The song is a cover off of Charles Watson’s (Slow Club, The Surfing Magazines) most recent solo album. Charles takes the song’s pop sway and gives it a bit of a hazy glow up. A slight funk hangs over the guitars while she packs in a bit of synth fog to the original’s crisp take. She makes the song her own while providing a fairly loving homage to the Watson’s standout album opener. The cut is paired with vintage figure skating footage for a video that’s reinforces the song’s sense of nostalgia. If you’re in the UK, get out and see her live!
