Osees – “Intercepted Message”

Avatar

Always game for some newnesss from Osees around here. The band has jettisoned the garage, pushed through the prog, and trashed the thrash in favor of a synth-punk sound on the upcoming Intercepted Message. The first single is the title track, a song that’s touted as Teutonic, but shares a lot more current DNA with the South-Hemi heavies like Ausmuteants, Total Control, or School Damage. The accompanying video is soaked in modern entropy — a 24hr barrage of brain scraping social decay that’s omnipresent and oppressive, burrowing under the skin like a sickness. Despite the end-stage ills at the song’s core, this is a radiant blast of Osees ecstasy, as fun and frothy as they’ve been at any point in their now massive catalog. The new record also swerves the usual home of CastleFace for a spot in the In The Red roster, arriving on shelves in August.
