Nathan Ma – “She’s Wild”

Getting into this excellent country-flecked pop gem from Nathan Ma this morning. “She’s Wild” is a soft-focus gem that jangles lightly and curls at the edges with an alt-country twang. The song excels at balancing it’s pop instincts — softly soaked in heart-heavy indie pop while riding its silvery pedal steel lines like a wave. Ma’s vocals, meanwhile, are pillowed down into a cocoon of sound, candle lit and lost in a slightly heady haze. Produced by Nathan with mixing by Young Guv, who’s dabbled in similar county-smeared territory, the song makes a strong case for keeping an ear towards’ Ma’s works.
