Mountain Brews – “Mountain Brews”

Perpetual Doom add another necessary album for 2022 to their roster. Following up the excellent new Lee Baggett, they’ve announced a compendium of music from L.A. band Mountain Brews. The band, headed up by Jake Longstreth, Los Angeles-based painter and co-host of Apple Music’s Time Crisis with Ezra Koenig, also shares a pretty good crossover with members of Dead cover band Richard Pictures. The combination makes for a rather sun-streaked vision of Cosmic Americana that focuses on companionship, camaraderie, and general positivity. The band has self-released several EPs over the past few years digitally, but now they’re all being culled together for a 2xLP sewn up in fine gatefold fashion. The band’s signature song starts the record off and it’s full of all the mountain sunshine promised in the band’s resume. The eponymous album is out October 21st.
