Lisa/Liza – “Rose Pedals”

Avatar

Mexican Summer’s Looking Glass series has proven a deep well of material outside the label’s normal purview. They continue this week with a fragile, frost-laden cut from Maine’s Lisa/Liza. With a music box guitar loping behind her Liza Miller traces the cracks in broken glass on “Rose Pedals,” a song about finding solace during turmoil, carving out one’s own port from the many storms around us. The loneliness is palpable, aching like an agitated tooth, but her isolation adds to our own to create comfort. Fans of Espers, Orion Rigel Dommisse, or Kria Brekkan will find their footing with Lisa/Liza’s work.
