Les Rallizes Dénudés – The OZ Tapes

Avatar

I feel like enough dust hasn’t been kicked up about this, but today marks the start of pre-order for some official wax from Les Rallizes Dénudés. The Japanese legends, shrouded in mystery, scarred by controversy, and cemented high in the pantheon of Eastern psychedelics are often bootlegged and rarely found on certified releases. Temporal Drift begins the process towards rectifying that with the release of the band’s OZ Tapes. The original set of OZ Tapes came out as part of a larger release, a live recording called OZ DAYS LIVE, a private press 2LP set recorded live at short-lived Tokyo venue OZ, featuring Miyako Ochi, Acid Seven, Masato Minami, Taj Mahal Travellers, and four tracks by LRD. The original album doesn’t include all the material that was recorded on that day, but the new version by Temporal Drift includes previously unheard material, remastered from the original analog tapes by Makoto Kubota. The set also includes Notes by Yosuke Kitazawa with an intro from OZ manager Minoru Tezuka. I feel like needing to utter the word essential is unnecessary in this case, right?
