GIFT – “Share the Present”

Another nice single out of BK’s GIFT this week. The band’s captured the smudged psych-pop of the aughts to perfection, as I’ve mentioned previously, and “Share The Present” leans to the gauzier side of the spectrum. Where the last single worked dynamic shifts to great effect, this time the band lays back into the foam, letting the dreampop veil drape all over the single. Bits of Chaperhouse and Medicine by way of School of Seven Bells fill the speakers, pairing iced keys with chugging. The song skips along on a propulsive beat but its hard to get your head out of the glorious fog. The band’s debut album is out October 14th from Dedstrange.
