Flowertown – “Half Yesterday”

Avatar

I definitely had a soft spot for Flowertown’s last album, a fuzz-swaddled bout of indie pop that lays in well with the luminous crowd coming out of San Francisco these dasys. It’s great to see that Karina Gill (Cindy) and Michael Ramos (Tony Jay) are back again with a new EP for the ever-expanding stable over at Mt.St.Mtn. While there’s still a cottony haze over “Half Yesterday,” its emerged a bit from the cocoon that found its way into their past works. With the kind of comfort that was knitted into Galaxie 500 and a jangled purr that tosses them into the pen with a whole host C86-adjacent folks that leaned towards the tender heart, the single points towards an indie pop gem polished to perfection. With a little clearing of the air, Flowertown’s sound stretches between sadness and stardust with a beautiful grace. The new EP, Half Yesterday, is out July 8th.
