Danny Paul Grody – “Light Blooms”

A gorgeous new single out today from Danny Paul Grody captures the verdant air of spring. “Light Blooms” patters into the speakers on Grody’s fingerpicked folk, soft and sanguine, cut with an atmospheric haze courtesy of Jonathan Sielaff’s clarinet work. Grody hasn’t cropped up here in a while. I was first hooked into him from releases on Root Strata, Students of Decay, and Three Lobed, but 2021’s Furniture Music slipped by me. He’s back with Three Lobed for the upcoming Arc of Day, which arrives June 16th. The record also features contributions from Chuck Johnson on Pedal Steel, Trevor Montgomery (Young Moon, Tarentel, Lazarus) and Rich Douthit (The Drift).
