Cool Ghouls – “It’s Over”

Avatar

One of my favorites from last year was the excellent George’s Zoo from San Francisco stalwarts Cool Ghouls. The band’s last album was a kaleidoscope of ’60 jangle-pop, early Rundgren solo years, post-Brian R&B Beach Boys, and even the luxurious confines of The Moody Blues’ orchestral pop. As the band preps for a Summer tour, they’re releasing the video for “It’s Over,” a song that definitely capitalizes on the 70s Beach Boys soul slide in the vocals, but lets a bit of opulence slip into its brass-boosted backing. It’s the first time in more than four years that the band has hit the road, so if you’re on the West side of the country, make note and get out to see ‘em.
