Beachwood Sparks & GospelbeacH – “You Don’t See Me Crying”

Leave it up to me to take a vacation during a week of banner announcements. The death of Neal Casal is still felt reverberating through music communities and in the wake of his tragic passing, the Neal Casal Music Foundation has been setup in his honor and to preserve his music. The foundation is releasing a 5LP set, Highway Butterfly, that explores the vast catalog of songs that Neal left behind. The set features covers from Beachwood Sparks & GospelbeacH, Fruit Bats, Hiss Golden Messenger, Mapache, Phil Lesh, Vetiver, J Mascis, Tim Heidecker, Jesse Aycock, The Allman Betts Band, Cass McCombs and a ton of others who were touched by Casal’s music and seek to pay tribute to a friend and a truly great songwriter. Neal was a consummate sideman in many celebrated groups, but never quite got the appreciation for his solo works that he deserved. This seeks to set that right. The record is out November 12th, direct from the foundation. Check out Beachwood Sparks and GospelbeacH members together doing a version of Neal’s “You Don’t See Me Crying” from No Wish to Reminisce. The video incorporates many of Neal’s photographs as well, pulling the band into his visual world alongside one of his most tender songs.
