Ayal Senior – “Ashby”

A few years ago a lovely record snuck out under the name Sacred Lamp. The record was a collaboration between Canadian songwriters Matthew ‘Doc’ Dunn and Ayal Senior. The songs on Senior’s upcoming LP Az Yashir were born out of shows that sprung up around the release of that album, an extension of what Sacred Lamp had been working on and the kind of temporal comfort they found hovering between devotional blues and the body hum harmonics of raga. In anticipation of the album’s release on May 19th, Senior shared the humble respite “Ashby.” The rest of the album matches the track’s beautifully layered lope, a peaceful beacon in the dark.
